Melbourne Cup

The race that stops a nation and fashion that causes frenzy!

Melbourne cup is a race that stops a nation, but is it the race itself or the fashion it attracts? No longer is fashion on the fields just about the ladies as men, children, fashion labels and Milliners compete in their respective events.
What was instigated in 1962 to draw more women to the races has become such a massive event in the Spring Carnival that for many what you wear to the races is far more important than who you're betting on to win the cup. As a result this month we bring you...

Chella’s Tips For Avoiding Fashion Faux Pas

Ladies...
  • Always remember when shopping for dresses that you have to look like a sophisticated, classy, elegant LADY at the races. Avoid at all costs mini skirts/dresses, any dresses that do not support or cover the bust area and visible underwear. (Bra straps, VPL, and VGL all included)
  • Look for dresses that are stylish, classic and simple in design that can be worn on more than one occasion. This doesn’t mean you have to stick to black, by all means pick a dress in a striking colour or pretty pattern.
  • Don’t be afraid to go big, bold and colourful in your choice of hats and fascinators. A fantastic hat with a simple, stylish dress has a much greater and positive impact then flashing too much skin.
  • Shoes! Very important. Elegant heels to go with that classy dress. Shoes can make or break an outfit, match them carefully with your dress and hat so they compliment your outfit not clash.
  • Please don’t wear something just to fit in. You don’t have to wear a strapless dress if you are going to spend your entire day worrying that it will fall down or those sky high heels if you are struggling to stand let alone walk in them.
  • Most importantly make sure your comfortable in what you’re wearing. A lady that wears her outfit proudly exudes confidence.

Men...

The 2006 Derby Day winner

  • Suits all round for the men. For something different move away from black and opt for silver, grey and natural-coloured suits. Two button suits are most popular for the races but double-breasted are set to make a resurgence.
  • Short-brimmed hats are in teamed with silver or lavender silk ties and patent-leather accessories.
  • Please don’t go to all the effort of a stylish suit and accessories and then team them with your old scuffed black shoes that have been sitting in the back of your cupboard since your high school formal/wedding/last attended a formal event of any kind. Shoes can make or break a man’s outfit!!
  • If you’re attending more than one event over Melbourne Cup remember the following when deciding which suit. Oakes Day = fashionable, Derby Day = classic business suit and Cup day = permission to be outlandish (within reason).
  • ALWAYS, ALWAYS if you are attending the races with your partner ask her for her opinion before purchasing anything. If you commit a fashion faux pas or pick something that will clash with her outfit you risk spending the day at different ends of the marquee.

If you're still confused remember......

When in doubt happy dance!

Intervest Global is proud to introduce one of our fantasic clients and brilliant demonstration agents...

Mr Jean-Paul Bruneteau

Now well into my second year in trading with Intervest Global, I am comfortable to say that my IGL has become my passion and my best friend. Installed on my laptop, it follows me everywhere.

Having run very successful restaurants in Australia and overseas, a 'Julia Child book prize' recipient for my last publication "Tukka Real Australian Food" I am better known as the innovator of Australian cuisine using Indigenous ingredients (Google me and have a look for fun ), I needed a new challenge  and preferably one sitting down.

I discovered IGL and spent a good six months investigating it and I have to tell you that I am now extremely proud to be part of a winning team. Intervest Global is relentless in providing excellent service to its client base, either administratively or with technical assistance provided by Chris Leslie.

By the way Chris.. You are a Gem and I thank you so much for all the assistance you have given me. The man is a genius and no job is ever too simple or complicated enough for Chris to solve.

The trainers are very dedicated people who only have the one wish and that is for you to succeed, I will however stress to everyone out there that it is absolutely imperative to complete and fully understand the 'operations manual' to obtain the maximum out of this incredible tool. Once you fully understand the workings of it, with discipline and diligence  you too will  reap the full benefits and much more than Intervest care to tell you (they are so conservative  ehehh) .

Intervest has just released for trial a new Bookie system, I am one of the fortunate ones to have the opportunity to test it for the company .... Well..... WWHHoah !! man, its powerful. If you don't believe me, go check yesterday (thursday 18th November) results. I couldn't believe it myself.

I worked out the formula quite a long time ago and shared it with some of the people who were invited to my home to see this incredible program for themselves.

Intervest has translated it into an easy "press the button" set up and it is truly amazing.

Last but not least, Chella has asked me for a funny story. The only one that is not so funny is that I still haven't been to a race track and I am not that comfortable around horses and have never read a TAB form.
